sparkling seas and golden shores, skies marbled by clouds....

europe was eye opening. so many ghosts and so much angst. yet there is so much vibrance and life across the entire continent. it is so strange to see that there are differences and customs that each culture hold fiercely and dear despite the close proximity of every "sovereign nation". there is definatey a reason europe is referred to as the old country. here in the united states, across the tumultious atlantic, it seems the land and sky stretch forever and into eternity. americans seem emersed in the illusion of endlessness and are being taken advantage of. it is scary that the rest of the world realizes the situation and americans are blinded by bright shiny consumerism. in contrast, europe seems crammed. stacked on top of itself, heavy and cognisant of something perfectly intangible. some nations are calm and morose, mourning sins and losses. some countries bask in glorious sunlight or sulk in dark smoky corners of coffee houses and seem to care little for the trivialities of ambition. others still are ancient and proud, the wisdom of the milenia cut into the lines of working mens faces and aired by the defiant gait of ageless women.

spanish summer pines to me and thoughts of roman holidays will linger. the world is so strange, and i have barely set foot out of my shell. i feel that if this sense of child like wonder ever fades, it will develop into fulfledged wanderlust. but all of that is just word and wind. fher of mana said it quite poignantly when he sang, "we are but sand and sea". the sand scattered long and far, so potentially full of treasure. the sea so terrible, deep and dark, heaving restlessly, yet sparkling and reflecting the divinity and mystery of unknown depths above. americans bleed the same blood as europeans and asians and every other human around the planet. when the skies weep, it reminds us that we all bleed sand and sea.

the road goes ever on.
